The Missouri S&T VE Team offers amateur radio licensing exams for free to students and community members, through the Laurel VEC.

Exams are offered for all classes of licenses. Exam sessions are open to S&T Students, as well as the general public. Pre-registration is required.

Exam Session Information

We strongly recommend that you read through our overview of the licensing process prior to registering for a session.

Please use the exam registration form to register for an upcoming exam session. If you experience difficulties with the sign-up process, please contact the exam coordinator at w0eee@mst.edu. All exam sessions are listed on the calendar and will be held starting at 6:00pm in room 103 of Emerson Electric Co. Hall. We will stop accepting new applicants at 6:30pm, however proctors will remain available until all exams are finished; there is NO time limit. If you are unable to attend any of the exam sessions, please contact the exam coordinator at w0eee@mst.edu and we may be able to offer additional sessions.

What to Bring

All applicants are required to bring the following:

  • Photo ID
  • Copy of your existing FCC license & any valid CSCEs
  • Your FCC-issued FRN (FCC Registration Number) **

Fees

There is no cost for exams offered by the Missouri S&T VE Team. However, the FCC charges a $35 application fee. This fee applies only after you successfully pass an exam. Subsequent license upgrades are not subject to this fee.

Technician Class

We plan to teach a class during the Spring of 2024 that will teach you everything you need to know to pass your Technician license exam. Please join our Discord server or send us an email (w0eee@mst.edu) to receive the information for the class when we publish it.
